Retrograde Crisis, Mesa Going Back to My Youth

John Sollom, OC Weekly’s Best Visual Artist for 2012, kicks off his new show with a reception at the Gina M Woodruff Gallery in Long Beach.  The show will feature a dozen new pieces of art in addition to the many pieces of Sollom’s work already on display at the gallery.

The artist draws inspiration for his Loose Representational and Assemblage art from the 1950’s and this show kicks off a tour that will end in Korea.  Sollom won the OC Weekly award for his series, Stations of the Cross, inspired by the July 2011 beating and death of Kelly Thomas in Fullerton, CA.

The reception will run from 6-10 PM and is a chance for the public to meet the artist and talk with him about his work.  The event will feature live jazz along with appetizers and drinks.
