Local artist lives the American Dream
Charles Hetenyi emigrated from Budapest, Hungary to the United States in 1956 where he learned the language, culture and the American way of life. Fifty-five years later he is proud to announce his first art show this week at the GinaMW Gallery in Long Beach, CA.
Charles has had a lifelong passion for art and studied with Frank Turriello, Darwin Duncan, Sergey Bongard, Earl Daniel and Leon Frank, among others. He has sold a number of paintings to collectors in the United States and Europe, has won awards and has generated numerous portrait commissions.
Now retired, he devotes all his time to creating art with watercolors, the most difficult medium to paint. Charles is now a member of the American Watercolor Society, the Northwest Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society and the American Portrait Society.
His collection of landscapes and portraits can be viewed at the GinaMW Gallery this weekend. The gallery is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1:00-5:00 PM.

My partner and I heard about the Gina MW Gallery, a new art gallery in Long Beach. For fun one Friday night, we drove from our San Clemente home to take a look at a watercolor exhibit by Charles Hetenyi, a talented painter, originally from Hungary. What a wonderful surprise! This very talented artist can paint anything and everything. Time and time again, I found myself looking at pieces of art that captured places where I had been in my life, such as the high Sierras and even Devil's Postpile near Mammoth. Added bonus: lots of wonderful restaurants nearby. Don't miss this new gallery; you will love the Hetenyi exhibit.
